In recent years, the world has witnessed a significant shift towards inclusivity and acceptance of marginalized communities, whether they be BIPOC, Women owned, or LGBTQ+. As we continue to progress towards a more equitable society, supporting queer-owned brands has become increasingly important, and this PRIDE month, Mary Modern proudly stands by this commitment, recognizing the value and significance of supporting such brands.
Read on and learn why it’s critical to vote with your dollars when it comes to supporting queer-owned companies.
Amplifying Queer Voices: Supporting queer-owned brands provides a platform for queer individuals to share their stories, talents, and perspectives. By championing these brands, we help amplify queer voices and contribute to a more diverse representation within the business landscape. This visibility fosters a sense of belonging for queer communities and inspires others to embrace their true identities.
Economic Empowerment: Purchasing products from queer-owned brands directly contributes to the economic empowerment of the queer community. It allows queer entrepreneurs to thrive, create job opportunities, and reinvest in their communities. By supporting these brands, we actively participate in dismantling economic disparities and fostering financial independence within the queer community.
Remembering The Roots Of Cannabis: It’s crucial that we recognize and honor why legal cannabis exists. This movement-turned-industry was born out of a need for HIV-positive persons to find relief in the 1980s HIV epidemic. Were it not for the amplified voices of the LGBTQ+ communities and their allies, we might not have the access that we now have to the plant.
